If you've ever plugged your MyChron 6 into a USB-C charger and watched it refuse to charge, you're not alone. We ran into this ourselves, and the fix is counterintuitive.
The culprit is the charger itself. Modern fast chargers, like the high-power USB-C bricks that come with most phones, use charging protocols that negotiate higher voltages and amperage to top off a device quickly. The MyChron 6 doesn't play nice with these. Instead of charging faster, it often won't charge at all.
The solution is to go slower. Grab a lower-amperage charger, something in the 1.5 amp range, and your MyChron 6 should charge without issue. A basic, low-output USB-C wall adapter or a standard USB port works far better here than the fastest brick in your bag.
So before you assume your unit has a battery or port problem, check what you're charging it with. Swapping out a fast charger for a modest 1.5 amp one is usually all it takes to get back up and running. Keep one of these lower-power chargers in your trailer or toolbox and you'll save yourself a headache at the track.
